Reversify journal

Welcome to ~reversify

Our Mission Statement: Poets fixing other poet's poetry

This is a club/forum for serious poets who wish to improve their craft, and are willing to help others do the same. Our goal is also to get exposure for all of the talented poets on DA who go largely unnoticed. and to get poets to keep writing, and help them to do so.

To begin we would like to say that we all know how some of the poetry on Deviantart is, to put it mildly, slightly contrived. We do not wish to be an exclusive club, rather we would like to help writer's improve and experiment with new styles and challenge people to step out of their comfort zones (which we all know can be challenging).

It is also very apparent that the poetry community on DA is largely overlooked in favour of visual art, which is understandable. Looking at a pretty picture requires less effort than reading a piece of poetry. Some artists may also be of the opinion that all poetry on Deviantart sucks, which we all know is not true. We would like to set these naysayers right.

Events and Goals at ~reversify

:bulletblue: Every two weeks a contest will be posted. All members are eligible. Links to each piece submitted will be posted in a contest deviation so that all members can read the submissions. Every member can vote for their favorite piece and the piece will the most votes will win. Alternatively there can be willing poets to form a panel of judges who will give in depth critique and comments who will make the final decision.

:bulletblue: Anyone can submit work that they would like critiqued and it will be posted in this journal with the most recent ones in the 'update' section. We would also like membes to save drafts of their work, if possible, and let us post them so that others can see the processes needed to create good work.

Finally, through this club we would like to promote all the great poetry out there. Since we are a back from the dead group it will take things a while to take off and if you would like to join please note this account, *stars-burn or ~jesstasy18247 or ~hidden-secret

Thanks for visiting! *stars-burn

News and Updates

Well well. I'm sure you're all thinking 'who is this and when did I watch this group? Wasn't it inactive? And I'd be saying why yes, yes it is. But wait! Keep reading! ~whoisphillip has kindly put in some thought (and soon some effort) into re-kickstarting this group. He has many fantastic ideas, and he (and possibly ~hidden-secret) will put these forward to you as soon as I leave (and they get around to it).

If you're looking for in-depth, line-by-line criticism on PROSE or POETRY, please note me with a link to the piece and your e-mail address (comments will be given in Word Documents to keep things simple and easy to understand). Or, you can simply email me at very.red@gmail.com with the .doc file attached. I WILL NOT critique on DA, it is simply too tedious to deal with the HTML formatting.

Please do NOT send any of the following:
:bulletred: Fan fiction of ANY kind. NONE!
:bulletred: Erotica (It can be erotic, but I don't want detailed descriptions of genitalia, please)
:bulletred: 'Dark' Poetry
:bulletred: Angsty Poetry
:bulletred: Prose works longer than 15 pages 12pt, Times new roman, single spaced. (one or two pages over is fine, nothing more)
:bulletred: Science Fiction (I don't have a science background, it just gets on my nerves)

I enjoy speculative fiction, all non-fiction, personal essays, structural poems, and anything experimental. Please tell me which version of MS Word you have, so I will know how to best include my comments. If you don't have Word, please tell me.

Thanks.

Sorry about that, didn't spot your entry on the page and contest had closed. You need to note me with the entry or comment with it in the journal . Please do this next time, thanks. I tend not to look at the front page much.

Ok sorry if you've put it somewhere in your journal but I cant find it. How do you submit just general work to be commented on (not in a competition or anything) ?
thanks

Ah yes about that.. you submit it in your own account and give me the link, so I can put it with members work in the journal. At present this is the method of doing things because I'm not sure about giving out the password to the whole club, also I don't have a member's list etc. If enough people want to submit straight to the club that is an option I'll consider.
